As many as 320,000 ducks have died in Central Java, West Java and East Java, according to information collected by the Local Poultry Farms Association.

The ducks started dying in November 2012.  The Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health stated the duck deaths were caused by a subtype of H5N1.
